This venue has now refused to serve drinks without a meal being ordered, so it is now classed as a restaurant rather than a pub, and so the pub is permanently closed. However, real ale is served and there are reports that people have been sold just beer on the condition that they sit outside.

Dating from 1527, this oak beamed establishment with a large single bar in which all tables inside are reserved for dining. It is close to Pevensey Castle; coaches are welcomed and the establishment caters for functions. Although Pevensey Bay station is nearer to the pub, Pevensey & Westham (1100 metres) has a better service.
