Beers in Pubs are scored by drinkers who are CAMRA members. These scores are averaged out over a year, using a weighted average to prevent regulars scoring frequently giving a bias to the result and not discounting pubs with an insignificant number of scores or scorers. Congratulations to Louisa and her staff who at The Tower have achieved the highest average score for two years in a row, the accompanying pictures show Branch Vice Chair Roger presenting the 2025 award to Louisa.

Four branch members travelled to Bakewell in Derbyshire to present an Eastbourne Beer of the Festival award to Thornbridge Brewery in their tap room. One of the brewers, Dom (centre) accepted the award and showed them the surviving iconic Burton Union system in use. Based in Chesterfield, the four also had a guided tour of some Sheffield pubs.

The previous Branch and Sussex Pub of the Year, the Brickmaker’s Alehouse was runner up in both this year’s Branch Pub of the Year and Branch Cider Pub of the Year. Pictured with the three certificates are joint landlords Martin (left) and Robin.

The Area Cider Pub of the Year 2024 was the Robin Hood, Icklesham, Angela presented landlady Carly with the award along with the current Branch Cider Pub of the Year.

The Crown pub and Ninkaci bar in Eastbourne are run by husband and wife team, Andy and Jo. At a joint presentation at the Crown, Andy was presented with the Community Pub of the Year and Jo the branch bar with the highest average National Beer Score in 2024.

Bexhill’s Albatross (RAFA) Club is the Branch Club of the Year and Roger also presented the then Head Steward, Emma, with the Regional Award for 2024.
